You recently learned that characters can be either dynamic (showing change throughout time) or static (staying the same). Think of a book you read or movie you saw and name a character that was dynamic. Then share why? See example below for assistance.

One dynamic character that I read about was Jonas, from the novel, The Giver. Jonas lives in a controlled community where emotions and individuality were not allowed. In the beginning of the story he is a innocent little boy who dares to NOT follow these rules. He is ignorant of the realities of the world around him and despite being able to see "beyond" he lives a normal life. This changes when he receives his role as the receiver, in which he is chosen to receive all the memories and pains of the past. This information is eye opening and cause him to question the rules and regulation set in his community and ultimately prompts him to run away.

One dynamic character that I read about is Yuu, from the graphic novel, Holyland. In the beginning of the story, Yuu live in Japan and he is a sweet, naive, weak, innocent, small boy that gets bullied back in middle school, so much that he rarely went school and when he do, he get beaten up since he was such a easy target, Even his own family accepted and pitied Him. So yuu felt numb and felt like there nothing in life for him anymore so he went to the roof of a building and when he was at the went to the edge, his heart was pounding and open his eyes and felt fear so quickly went back home. The next day he went to the library and got some books about how to do boxing and fighting, yuu read it and follow what it said and practiced over 500 straight punches every day even if his arm gets tired or even hurt he wanted to give up but he didn't. Later on in the story but still the beginning, He went to street at the city area and there were other high schoolers that was threatening him like back in middle school and tried to beat him up but Yuu beat them instead but it was an accident and Yuu didn't know what he was doing. (It's still the beginning on the story.. and I'm not done yet, he change a lot.)

A dynamic character I saw a movie about is Emmett, from the Lego Movie. In the beginning of the film, Emmett started off as a character who blends in with all of the other people in his town. He was the closest meaning of the word "average", and so agreed the people in his town. After seeing that he had become the chosen one when he fell in a pit and had found a red brick, he started having more confidence and believed in himself. At the end of the movie, Emmett lost the red brick, he then got told that there was no chosen one and it was made up to give confidence. He became a master builder and created machines made of Legos to get rid of the KRAzy GLuE (KRAGLE, crazy glue) that made the Lego people get stuck in place. Since he had enough confidence and courage to help his town, he saved it from the crazy glue.

A dynamic character is Finn from the movie star wars. Finn was a stormtrooper and stormtroopers are bad but Finn soon realized that he did not like being a bad guy so he then became apart of the rebel alliance. So in the end Finn is a dynamic character because he started off bad in the movie but then turned good. Kylo Ren is an example of a static who is also from the movie Star Wars. Kylo Ren is a static character because he was bad from the start to the end of the movie.

I just wanted to add mor detail to my first answer, he is very dynamic. He changes from an unknowing and unusual boy living in the Muggle world to a famous, and sometimes infamous, renowned and wealthy wizard. Also, he is dynamic in the fact that it is about his coming-of-age. He changes from a boy to a man. From easily frightened to afraid of nothing.

I choose Mr.Gru from Despicable Me. He is a dynamic character because in the beginning of the movie he was evil and when he met the little kids, he stopped being evil.

I think of a dynamic character when I see the movie Tangled ,Rapunzel gets to see new sights and learn new things about the world outside of the tower where her stepmother has her locked up in. But, Rapunzel has a change of heart and decide to not listen to her stepmother and leave the house/tower to see "the lights in the sky" with Flynn. This shows a dynamic character because Rapunzel underwent thinking she wouldn't leave the tower but ended up really wanting to leave the tower.

A Dynamic character that I know is Junior from the move "Storks". Junior is the top delivery bird and he really wants to become the boss of the company. But when Tulip (The other main character) accidentally makes a new baby from the baby factory, Junior changes from a self-centered bird who only cared about being boss, to a caring bird who wants the baby to be delivered safely to her parents.
